Job Summary
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work productively and efficiently in conformity with departmental standards and procedures. Working knowledge of AACR2, Library of Congress Classification and Subject Headings, MARC formats and OCLC and KetNotis online cataloging systems. Ability to accurately follow detailed instructions and work independently or with minimal supervision. Ability to perform complex tasks with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to work in a changing environment. Computer knowledge and skills.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma, 1-2 years of college preferred 1-2 years minimum library experience.

Job Duties

These are the job duties required of the position.

Description of Job Duty

Catalog new books, utilizing both online systems, OCLC and Key Notis.

Catalog new books- member records.

Add copies to Notis records.

Create LC call numbers for fiction books in the Dewey collection, edit and export records and process books.

Catalog “Download and link” books brought from Circulation.

Export new records over “wrong records downloaded” into KeyNotis system.

Withdraw duplicate copies, damaged and mutilated books.

Proof other staff’s work.

Reclassify the Dewey Decimal collection into Library of Congress.

Type order cards and fund slips for books being ordered.

Search departmental lists through KeyNotis for holdings.

Utilize books in Print Plus for information needed to type book orders.

Description of Job Duty

Process books- apply spine labels, label protectors, call number on title page, stamp and treat for security system.

Maintain and save file in OCLC.

Assist in yearly book census.

Repair damaged books.

Attend workshops to learn more about computer systems housed in the library.

Assist with authority control by searching OCLC, printing and exporting records into KeyNotis system.

Perform general office duties.

Other duties as assigned.
