Job Duties

These are the job duties required of the position.

Description of Job Duty

1. Supervises a crew of custodians in custodial work or related projects.

2. Trains, counsels, and transports employees.

3. Completes employees accident reports and inspection sheets.

4. Reviews safety data book and safety procedures with employees.

5. Maintains equipment and supply inventory for assigned area.

6. Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes and buffs stairs, corridors and floors.

7. Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies using vacuum.

8. Washes windows and walls.

9. Reviews safety data book and safety procedures with employees.

10. Dusts and polishes furniture and cleans woodwork and surfaces.

11. Picks up paper and debris on grounds and in buildings.

12. Empties trash cans, cleans containers and transports trash to disposal area.

13. Cleans bathroom walls, floor, showers, fixtures, and replenishes bathroom supplies.

14. Sets-up chairs, tables, bleachers and lays floor coverings for special events.

15. Replaces light bulbs, recycles bulbs, and cleans light fixtures.

16. Cleans blinds, vacuums curtains and removes spider webs.

17. Washes outside porches and entryways.

18. Locks and secures doors and windows, turns off lights, sets alarms and clears building of visitors, students or staff.

19. Shovels snow and salts steps, entrances and walkways.

20. Blows leaves and debris away from buildings.

21. Applies gym finishes.

22. Makes minor repairs to buildings, and maintains and makes minor repairs to equipment.

23. Cleans clogged drains and cleans flooded areas.

24. Moves furniture to clean, and moves furniture and equipment as requested by staff.

25. Cleans boards.

26. Removes and disposes of dead rodents.

27. Uses safety procedures to clean bodily fluids.

28. Performs work of absent employees when needed.

29. Delivers emergency messages.
