Job Summary

The Executive Aide provides general secretarial support to the Bureau of Business and Economic Research and the Center for Banking. Specific duties include managing files, drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, making reservations, and greeting visitors. The Executive Aide is also tasked with directing and supervising graduate assistants and student workers on department projects, maintaining budgets and timesheets, interfacing with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, the ETSU Foundation, and the banking community at large, aiding in the planning and managing of external events, updating web site content and working on projects as assigned. The Bureau/Center Executive Aide is also responsible for supervision of the copiers in the College of Business (i.e. ordering paper and supplies, reading meters and calling for repairs).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Mastery of Microsoft Office suite software, the ability to conduct internet searches, an ability to organize filing systems, and an ability to learn university budgeting systems. Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication and telephone skills are required as is a pleasant personality and an ability to perform as a team member in an aggressive forward thinking unit.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or GED plus three (3) years secretarial office experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Duties

These are the job duties required of the position.

Description of Job Duty

Assist faculty and staff with technical questions (computers, etc.).

Assist in solving problems presented by students and staff.

Maintain contact for the director with public and private professional persons and other officials.

Research policies, procedures and guidelines for director and staff.

Assist faculty with web pages relating to classroom instruction as requested.

Assist faculty with web pages relating to classroom instruction as requested.

Prepare work orders as needed.

Coordinate bulk mailings for grant projects.

Monitor inventory.

Maintain the Bureau of Business and Economics Research Library.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
