Job Summary

Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in photographic services, processing film, and preparing prints and/or slides. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of principles and techniques of still and action photography.

Knowledge of photographic equipment.

Knowledge of image manipulation and presentation software.

Knowledge of computers.

Knowledge of major social media platforms.

Ability to capture images for both editorial and marketing use.

Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to work independently without close supervision.

Ability to multi-task, with attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to deal with a variety of people.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of experience required; must be proficient in all aspects of photography.

Job Duties

These are the job duties required of the position.

Description of Job Duty

Assists the Executive Assistant to the President for University Relations in providing pleasing and interesting photographs combining artistic and technical elements for publications, news releases, marketing materials, video presentations and other university, departmental, and external client use.

Assists the Executive Assistant to the President for University Relations in location photography of events in a variety of environments.

Coordinates schedules with other full-time and part-time photographers.

Coordinates photography with internal and external clients.

Designs, edits, and manipulates images for publication.

Prepares digital content to be used for social media and websites.

Coordinates photo shoots.

Produces images for quick turn-around use.

Uses specialized lighting and other enhancements to create images used for marketing.

Completes multiple, complex duties at an advanced artistic and technical skill level.

Complete duties that require careful planning and organization to achieve end results.

Maintains exacting accuracy as required.

Creates images and digital content that is consistent with university brand guidelines.

Maintains archive file system that is accessible to specified individuals.

Plans, organizes and prioritizes order of work.

Modifies existing and development of new photographic techniques and procedures.

Develops and applies problem solving techniques.

Maintains positive relationships with internal and external clients.

Assists in the day-to-day operation of Photographic Services Office.
