Job Summary

Work performed in investigation of crimes and accidents, protecting property, facilities and citizens by law enforcement. Must be trained or willing to be trained as a fire fighter and or/ bike patrol officer.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Investigate criminal matters, ability to utilize state fire codes.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma. Applicant must have completed a law enforcement academy approved by the Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission. Must show proof of graduation from an approved Police Academy. If diploma is from an out-of-state academy, transcripts of academy curriculum must also be submitted. Must be certifiable under the Minimum Standards for Police Officers (TCA 38-8-106), have or obtain a valid Tennessee driver’s license prior to employment, be able to pass a physical exam and psychological evaluation, pass a physical agility test, a rigid background investigation, hold a high school diploma or equivalency, must be at least (18) eighteen years of age, be a citizen of the United States, not have been convicted of or pleaded guilty to or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or to any violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substances, not have been released or discharged under any other than honorable discharge from any of the armed forces of the United States, have the person’s fingerprints on file with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Job Duties

These are the job duties required of the position.

Description of Job Duty

-Do follow up investigations.

-Investigate suspected crimes.

-Report findings and arrest suspected individuals.

-Testify in court or legal proceedings.

-Operate and maintain CID equipment.

-Keep records and make reports.

-Responsible for attending parking appeals court.

-Responsible for attending parking traffic and safety committee which meets monthly.

These are the job duties required of the position.

Description of Job Duty

-Do fire safety and extinguisher classes to faculty and staff to complete their OSHA training.

-Responsible for ensuring that all Public Safety Officer Personnel receives their annual training.

-Responsible for maintaining procedures and ensuring that protective clothing, S.C.B.A. units are safe to use.

-Keep and maintain all records.

-Keep and maintain all records pertaining to fit testing S.C.B.A. units.
