Knowledge of computing systems and data management. Ability to communicate effectively and interact with diverse constituencies to promote positive public relations. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work independently and decisively with minimal supervision. Ability to interpret, apply, and communicate policy. Ability to use contemporary computer software, including presentation programs.

Job Duties

These are the job duties required of the position.

Description of Job Duty

Manages and maintains admissions activities for the college.

Administers and supervises the admissions interview and final review processes including operational planning and development.

Manages scheduling and execution of interviews; meetings, setting agenda, insuring quorums, creating and maintaining official records.

Develops, creates, and disseminates critical committee information.

Provides technical and procedural training to committee members, including instruction on the effective and efficient use of AMCAS AP, the COM Reviewer site, and D2L.

Establishes and refines work flow, procedures, and operational improvements within the administrative unit.

Participates in development of policies, objectives, and long-range planning for admissions.

Anticipates problems, critical issues, and opportunities as they arise and advises the Assistant Dean.

Engages in ongoing planning and continuous quality improvement.

Assesses admissions processes, outcomes, and activities to provide feedback and recommendations as appropriate.

Provides situational analysis and advice, ensuring accurate and timely communication with the committee chair and assistant dean.

Interprets and implements policy, referring to administration when appropriate.

Services as primary point of contact and liaison between COM Admissions, university colleges and departments, the community, and other institutions regarding admissions.

Represents the College of Medicine and provides communications to a variety of constituents including prospective students, parents, faculty, alumni, and other interested parties concerning the process of applying.

Manages the production of the official College of Medicine catalog annually; oversees the collection of curricular and program description changes in a timely manner; designs layout and edits materials as needed; and, coordinates the final approval and publication of information in electronic form and subsequent distribution and archiving.

Designs and develops materials for prospective students such as promotional guides for recruitment and general admissions purposes.

Develops and coordinates implementation of special events to enhance admissions activities, including annual Preview Day.
