High School diploma or GED plus three (3) years secretarial office experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Duties

These are the job duties required of the position.

Description of Job Duty
  • Maintain confidential materials for the History Department.
  • Provide clerical support to the Department Chair and also 16 full-time and 4 part-time faculties, insuring that all duties are accomplished on a routine basis.
  • Serve as liaison between the Chair and faculty, various groups and individuals.
  • Main key control and building Coordinator ? * Contact for smart room system problems.
  • Initiate and implement textbook orders for each term.
  • Perform clerical duties including answering the telephone, processing mail, routing information to appropriate personnel; etc.
  • Provide expertise and direction in University policy and procedures, and other areas as deemed appropriate.
  • Compose routine and non-routine correspondence independently.
  • Maintain calendar and schedule appointments.
  • Schedules room assignments to History department.
  • Coordinate arrangements for special events and meetings.
  • Make all travel arrangements for Chair and all History faculty; prepare travel claims.
  • Maintain all travel claims for entire department.
  • Maintain all budgets and signature authority.
  • Type letters, memos, and forms independently; etc.
  • Maintain and monitor 9 budget accounts and make reports as required, advising the Chair or financial reports.
  • Process requisitions, invoices, and other physical materials.
  • Develop and maintain office filing system.
  • Work with nearly every department across campus on various issues.
  • Maintain and input payroll.
  • Originate and prepare all requests to hire for faculty, students and staff.
