Job Summary

Employees in this class are under close supervision. Work performed assisting a semi-skilled worker in a variety of semi-skilled maintenance tasks including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and masonry; performing related work as required. Must be able to work any shift. Overtime will be required as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the materials and equipment used in general maintenance and construction.

Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Ability to carry out simple oral instructions.

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.

Required Qualifications

Successful completion of tenth grade. Knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures; able to understand and use the materials and equipment used in custodial work; ability to follow simple instructions; ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with others; and ability to perform light to heavy manual labor.

  • Sweeps, mops, and scrubs floors.
  • Cleans carpets.
  • Cleans windows.
  • Cleans wall spots.
  • Cleans trash cans.
  • Stocks paper products and soap.
  • Dusts.

  • Helps with air filters, ceiling tiles, moving office furniture, painting, weeding, mulching, pruning of trees and shrubs, removal of debris, clean up of downed trees, clean up of fence line, and running after tools and supplies during projects.
