Job Summary

Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in supervising Plumbing Shop Employees.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Ability to plan and supervise plumbing shop activities. – Ability to inspect work for completeness and quality. – Ability to motivate employee work performance. – Ability to perform administrative activities. – Ability to operate machines and tools of the plumbing trade.

Required Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent; vocational school certificate in plumbing or completion of plumber’s apprenticeship, plus two years plumbing experience or two years related experience. Supervisory experience preferred.

Job Duties

These are the job duties required of the position.

Description of Job Duty

-Orders and locates materials and supplies for stock and special projects.

-Inspects work to ensure that instructions have been followed; assists plumbers when problems arise.

-Reads work orders and blueprints.

-Plans best way from several alternative ways to accomplish a job.

-Selects best method for temporary, emergency repairs.

-Operates specialized equipment and hand tools common to the plumber’s trade.

-Operates backhoe for repairs on water, sewer, storm drains, and gas lines; ensures no cross connections to ensure sewer does not get into drinking water.

-Prepares employees’ time sheets.

-Checks completed work orders to ensure time, materials, and charges are correct.
