Job Duties

These are the job duties required of the position.

Description of Job Duty

-Types or supervises typing of Department correspondence, purchase orders, requisitions, vouchers, forms reports and other documents on word processor.

-Greets visitors to Department and provides proper information or directs them to appropriate individual.

-Answers telephone, giving information to caller or routing call to appropriate individual, takes messages for those unavailable calls.

-Recruits, trains, and supervises student workers.

-Assigns student workers to faculty (if requested) and computer labs.

-Maintains attendance and time records for student assistants.

-Composes, prepares, and distributes routine department correspondence.

-Maintains appointment schedules for Chair and faculty (as requested).

-Maintains Department files.

-Assists in advisement of student, when faculty are unavailable and/or time is of the essence.

-Distributes and/or explains to students Department policies that affect them.

-Gathers information for, and supervises the ordering of, Departmental supplies and equipment.

-Arranges for text book orders and investigates any problems associated with orders.

-Makes corrections and changes in class schedules on University computer terminal.

-Keeps faculty informed on important Department, College, and University events.

-Assists faculty with travel arrangements and preparing appropriate forms.

-Prepares and photocopies class exams, quizzes, assignments, handouts, transparencies, and other teaching materials for faculty.

-Administers make-up tests when instructors are unable to do so.

-Supervises the collection and distribution, and disposition of student-evaluation of Faculty forms.

-Assist, as needed, in official Department and College events.

-Types correspondence for faculty, as requested.

-Oversees collection and record keeping for information and forms faculty are asked to submit.

-Maintains Department inventory.

-Posts information about graduate school and placement opportunities for students, class schedules, policies, announcements, and other information important to Department faculty and students.

-Assists in distributions of, and record keeping for, faculty payroll.

-Performs other tasks as requested and assigned, consistent with personnel policies.

-Reconciles monthly Departmental Budget Statements

-Maintains confidentiality when required for all personal matters.
