Job Duties

These are the job duties required of the position.

Description of Job Duty

-On a regular and continual basis, inspect and check operations of departmental instructional equipment and lab apparatus; repair/ calibrate if practical, or prepare for return of equipment / apparatus to authorized service station.

-Construct equipment/ demonstration apparatus at each student station.

-Assist in set up of introductory laboratory experiments; verify correct operation of apparatus at each student station.

-Assist in set up of classroom demonstration experiments and AV presentations as directed by faculty.

-Perform maintenance and other work, as required at observatory site on Narrow Lane Rd; assist Drs Powell and Henson, as required, in astronomy work.

-Check and maintain on a regular basis, adequate inventory of AV and lab apparatus spare parts and supplies necessary for instructional program.

-Maintain on a regular basis, departmental repair and fabrication labs (electronics, machine and wood working), including adequate supply of materials and components.

-Maintain departmental storage rooms for equipment and demonstration apparatus in good order; return equipment and apparatus which has been used by faculty to proper storage location on a regular basis.

-Perform other appropriate duties as directed by faculty and chairman.
