Job Summary
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Possess knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in carpentry, masonry, painting, wall finishes, and general renovation work. Have knowledge of safe work practices in performance of work. Possess critical thinking skills necessary to evaluate situations associated with tasks assigned. Knowledge of how to apply various paint and associated products to a variety of surfaces. Ability to distinguish colors. Ability to read, write, and understand English. Ability to operate a variety of equipment used in the performance of tasks including, but not limited to, paint mixer, saws, hand tools, and paint sprayers. Ability to operate vehicles during the course of incumbency in a safe manner. Ability to communicate effectively and possess interpersonal skills for working with staff, faculty, and students. Ability to bend, stoop, lift 80 lbs, enter cramped areas, and climb ladders.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma; completion of technical training program. Must possess skills for finish carpenter, floor repair, VCT repair, minor electrical, general means and methods for construction/renovation, supervision of employees, work schedules, material ordering, understanding of basic HVAC, minor masonry, and plumbing.

Job Duties

These are the job duties required of the position.

Description of Job Duty

Works independently to inspect buildings, make repairs, and coordinate with faculty and staff to complete repairs.

Orders materials required to make repairs.

Coordinates staff on renovation assigned.

Performs scheduling functions for staff to complete work loads during peak times.

Coordinates with contractors as required for project monitoring and access.

Provides leadership in the department to include work assignment and minor record keeping.

Dispatches to problem areas; makes necessary repairs, including paining, patching, masonry, minor electrical, plumbing, etc. so service interruptions are kept to a minimum.

Operates a variety of equipment including but not limited to: paint mixer, power tools, hand tools, trowels, and sprayers.
