Job Summary
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to search online catalogs, bibliographic databases, and Internet sources Ability to use library computer system staff functions (e.g., integrated library system cataloging) Knowledge of library materials and bibliographic tools. Knowledge of library policies and procedures. Ability to use Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook, and text editor(s) Knowledge of basic HTML tags and special character coding Ability to create, modify, and convert format of digital image and graphics files using software like Adobe, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. Ability to prioritize work for efficient and timely transaction processing. Strong task focus and attention to detail. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Effective problem resolution and research skills.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma; one year experience.

Job Duties

These are the job duties required of the position.

Description of Job Duty

Creates, updates, and deletes records for library materials in the library system (Sierra); verifies bibliographic data, performs simple copy cataloging.

Receives new library materials, verifies receipt against orders and packaging slips, assists with resolving problems.

Prepares physical materials for access (produces call number labels; applies barcode label, security tag, property stamp, bookplates)

Maintains new book jacket displays for the collections rang on each floor of the library; assists with production and maintenance of digital sin content (digital display of new materials), including images graphics)

Assists with editorial and production/ technical duties supporting digital collections (e.g., editing abstracts for theses and dissertations with appropriate encoding for display in the catalog and institutional repository)

Receives/picks up and delivers inbound and outbound interlibrary loan materials for shipment by courier or mail.

Sorts and delivers incoming mail to and collects outgoing mail from library departments and building tenants twice daily; transfers outgoing mail to the campus post office once daily.
