Job Summary

Responsible to the Department Chair for serving as an Executive Aide in the Philosophy and Humanities Department; available at desk, by phone, or email providing students and faculty members with necessary information; helping with departmental administration with faculty contracts; building the semester schedule by entering payroll information for faculty, student workers, and staff; monitoring and maintaining inventory of necessary supplies, forms, and other materials; keeping the department budget by making purchases of supplies, through Ebucs and with the procard; processing travel requests and claims; maintaining departmental files in office and on computer; helping coordinate departmental functions; maintaining the bulletin board, brochures; helping coordinate basic neatness and cleanliness in the office and surrounding area; collecting mail from the post office and distribute; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of computer basic computer software, Microsoft Office and desktop publishing. Ability to have strong interpersonal. Ability to communication effectively. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks effectively. Ability to work efficiently with limited supervision from Chair or other faculty. Ability to learn ETSU programs Banner, Ebucs, and TRS. Ability to learn to operate and help trouble shooting on copy machines. Ability to scan devices, and printers. Performing other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or GED; three years secretarial office experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; demonstrated use of computer software including word processing and spreadsheets; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and the ability to work independently.
