Job Summary

Responsible to the Principal Investigator for assisting in research in innate immunity and epigenetics of severe inflammation; performing a variety of immunological and molecular assays that require planning and modification of protocols; conferring with the principal investigator and assisting in designing and conducting experiments; collecting, analyzing and interpreting results; reviewing literature information concerning experimental procedures; maintaining inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment; and performs other related duties as assigned..

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of biochemistry, genetics, immunology, and microbiology. Knowledge of animal (mice and rats) husbandry. Knowledge of agarose and polycrmide gel electrophoresis. Knowledge of slide preparation from tissue specimens. Knowledge of fluorescent microscopy, RNA and DNA isolation, plamis preps, and tissure fractionation through ultracenterfugation.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology or related discipline; one year of experience in basic research; training and/or experience in immunology and/or molecular biology techniques; experience in cell culture, cell transfection, DNA and RNA manipulation, cloning, western blotting, and handling of small animals.
