Job Summary

Responsible to the Director of Career Services for implementing and maintaining the servers, computers and other IT resources of the American Job Centers in Local Workforce Development Area 2, including software; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of servers, computers and computer applications, including internet applications needed to support the AJCs.
  • Knowledge and expertise in VOIP telephone systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships and to work effectively with the staff, participants, partners and the customers.
  • Ability to provide effective technical assistance and training.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office to support AJC operations, and assist in developing and maintaining inventories.
  • Ability to recognize, diagnose and repair computer and server problems.
  • Ability to support the software required for efficient operations.
Required Qualifications

Associates degree or higher in computer science or business field required; a minimum of 10 years of applicable experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in American Job Centers.

Job Duties

These are the job duties required of the position.

Description of Job Duty
  • Oversees the selection, implementation, and maintenance of the information technology (IT) resources of the LWDA 2 AJC system.
  • Selects, installs and maintains the servers for the Center for Workforce Development, the career centers and WIOA Fiscal.
  • Advises the LWDA 2 Board of staff about the IT resources needed to maintain efficient and effective office computer operations, and recommends equipment and specifications to efficiently meet program needs.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of IT equipment and systems, including mobile devices.
  • Provides assistance to the staff, as needed, to answer questions and resolve computer issues.
  • Works effectively with the AJC career services staff, participants, partners, and the customers.
  • Supervises other technical staff as assigned.
  • Acts as technical liaison between the AJC system and the college’s Information Technology department.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate and up-to-date inventory records.
  • Provide technical assistance to other AJC partner agencies as appropriate.
  • Provides other assistance as required.
  • Provides expertise in IT hardware, software, and networks.
