Job Summary

Senior Career Specialist reports to the Director of Career Services and is responsible for providing career services to job seekers and assistance in locating employees to businesses and industries in Local Workforce Investment Area; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to interact with and provide assistance to AJC customers, using independent judgement and little supervision.

Ability to locate and access career and employment information.

Ability to maintain accurate records.

Ability to provide effective case management to program participants.

Ability to demonstrate proficiency using Microsoft Office.

Ability to work effectively with others, including customers and staff from other agencies in the AJC system.

Ability to understand and implement Federal, state and local regulations and guidelines.

Ability to maintain records accurately and in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required; at least five years experience in an American Job Center, using independent judgement and requiring little supervision in performing assigned job duties required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree preferred; degree in social work, business or related field.

Job Duties

These are the job duties required of the position.

Description of Job Duty

Works independently in providing needed career services, as defined by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and applicable state and Federal regulations and guidelines established by LWDB 2.

Provides services to businesses and industries to comply with applicable state and Federal laws and regulations.

Facilitates workshops at American Job Centers to customers on a regularly scheduled basis.

Integrate provision of services to job seekers, businesses and industries with other providers of services that are located in the American Job Center or that provide services through referrals.

Provides information about approved training providers to individuals that qualify to receive individual training accounts.

Uses judgement in performing these essential job functions, requiring little supervision.

Acts as lead to WIOA Specialists when required to do so.

Maintains appropriate data and prepares necessary reports to achieve performance objectives.
