Job Summary

The Research Coordinator is a full-time position and will support the research and evaluation activities of a multi-year, grant-funded longitudinal study aimed at evaluating initiatives to reduce unintended pregnancy in clinic settings. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for all study aspects related to patient recruitment and retention and data collection at multiple clinic sites. They will be responsible for the following elements of the study: recruiting, screening and consenting patients on-site in participating clinics; administering surveys to participants on-site in participating clinics and electronically following the participant’s initial clinic visit; protecting the confidentiality of research data; tracking and maintaining contact with enrolled participants across the longitudinal study period; collecting, maintaining, organizing, and managing study information; attending project-related meetings and conference calls; assisting with completion of IRB requirements; assisting with developing project timelines; traveling to and from participating clinic sites; developing and maintaining strong working relationships with participating clinic staff; and collaborating with Project Leaders in report generation for the granting agency, as well as manuscript preparation for publication. They will perform other duties as assigned.

The Research Coordinators will be ETSU employees eligible for full-time employee benefits. Two (2) Research coordinators will be located in the state of South Carolina, and two (2) Research Coordinators in the state of Alabama.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate with clinicians, patients, administrators, and study staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Ability to travel to and from clinic sites, including overnight travel.
• Ability to comprehend and implement research study methods and protocols, including those related to participant recruitment and retention.
• Ability to follow and implement ethical principles of human subjects research, including protecting the confidentiality of research data.
• Knowledge of computers including word processing, presentation, data entry, and survey administration and data collection software.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to plan for and conduct meetings both in person and remotely.
• Ability to comprehend and prepare needed data analysis reports and presentations.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple processes in parallel.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Public Health/Social Sciences or a related field. This position requires travel to and from participating clinic sites, including overnight travel

Preferred Qualifications

Training in research methodology preferred; two to three years of experience in patient recruitment and retention preferred; previous experience in a health care clinic environment preferred.
