Job Summary

Takes all steps required to fill prescriptions in compliance with all laws, regulations, and pharmacy policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with all company procedures and federal and state laws, rules, regulations for both oneself and the pharmacy overall as PIC.
Interprets patient profiles and performs drug utilization reviews (DURs).
Interprets and evaluate prescription drug orders.
Verifies all prescriptions prior to the dispensed product being delivered to patient.
Assists with and responds in a courteous and professional manner to questions from customers and physicians in regards to knowledge of prescription and health related products and issues.
Offers advice and professional consultation; efficiently handles customer complaints; and directs pharmacy operations to keep wait times to a minimum.
Ensures confidentiality of information, documentation, and assigned records as required.
Responds to telephone requests from customers, physicians, and vendors that require the expertise of the pharmacist.
Maintains a suitable inventory and adjusts appropriately. Pulls outdates, damaged, or recalled merchandise and prepares it for return or destruction.
Maintains daily and longitudinal reports. Retrieves and files prescriptions in appropriate fashion.
Supervises support personnel. Provides a performance review and evaluation of subordinate staff at least on an annual basis and maintains employee files. Participates in interview and/or selection of hourly perspective pharmacy employees.
Maintains a current registry of individuals employed at the pharmacy performing essential functions and ensures proper credentialing and upkeep of required trainings, certifications, and licensure.
Establishes, coordinates, and maintains the work schedule to best serve the needs of the customer and in accordance with budgeted payroll hours. Will help cover when needed, in times of illness or vacation.
Ensures that security measures and controls are followed at all times.
Complies with established dress code.

Communicates effectively and openly – communicates clearly and directly, approachable, provides and seeks feedback, actively listens.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Is qualified, knowledgeable, able and prepared to perform all the duties required within the pharmacy.
Communicates effectively with patients and other healthcare providers.
Provides a keen attention to detail.
Demonstrates ability to operate a computer system.

Required Qualifications

BS Pharmacy, PharmD, or equivalent FPGEC (NABP).
Retail pharmacy experience required.
The pharmacist must maintain a current licensure by the state’s Board of Pharmacy.
