Job Summary

Accomplishes project planning and work analysis involving job site inspection, coordination with departmental officials and staff agencies, developing and finalizing details of requirements and determining the most feasible methods and procedures to accomplish project requirements. Reviews and interprets building codes and other regulatory agencies’ requirements relating to project work. Works directly with Architects and Engineers and arranges meetings with various committees and individuals in the development of plans and specifications.
Prepares or has prepared plans and specifications for work to be performed by contractor or in-house forces, assures that preferred architectural and engineering design features are incorporated, and that preliminary drawings are thoroughly coordinated and reviewed by all involved agents of the University to assure that all requirements are included.
Continually monitors projects during the construction phase and works directly with the architectural and engineering inspectors to assure that plans and specifications are followed. Inspects work to assure that specifications are being followed and that quality work is being provided. Provides final inspections and acceptance of the completed project and assures all deficiencies in construction are duly corrected.
Perform professional design and project management for construction projects; maintain compliance with state building codes.
Coordinate project teams in the progress of architectural design and construction drawings, interior design drawings, specifications, schedule, cost estimates and project reports. Manage the work of architectural and engineering design professionals, outsourced design professionals, and other consultants.
Provide interior design support and develop FF&E budgets.

Facilities employees may be required to report at their regularly scheduled times inclement during emergency closures or during weather to support University projects.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The successful candidate should have a broad understanding of all related architectural disciplines, and the ability to organize, prioritize, perform when addressing multiple priorities.
Position requires dealing with a wide range of complex professional, technical and project manager related tasks where frequent in dependent interpretation and decision is required.
This position requires excellent communication and technical skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products and Autocad.

Required Qualifications

This position requires a Bachelors Degree in Engineering Technology/Construction Management and/or Interior Design or related field. 10+ experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

A MS Degree in Engineering Technology/Construction Management and/or Interior Design. Experience in Higher Education.

Salary $43,175 - $59,795
