Job Summary

We seek a highly motivated faculty member to teach courses in the department’s General Education Program, to begin January 1, 2018, pending availability of funds.

The successful candidate’s primary duties will be to teach four sections of Communication Studies courses (some combination of Introduction to Communication Studies, Public Speaking, and/or Argumentation and Debate). In addition, the successful candidate will support the department through a non-instructional assignment (e.g., assisting with the department’s speech and debate team; alumni coordinator; undergraduate advisor; webmaster).

This position is renewable in up to three-year increments, and is non-tenure-track with benefits. Lecturers at ETSU are eligible for promotion to Senior Lecturer and Master Lecturer, in accordance with ETSU’s promotion policy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required Qualifications

Master’s degree and 18 graduate hours in Communication Studies or related field before employment start date.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Communication Studies or equivalent.

Experience teaching communication studies courses at the university level, especially the three general education courses noted above. Current evidence of teaching excellence in communication studies course instruction. Strong record of department/program service and collegiality.
