Job Summary

The Department of Literature and Language at East Tennessee State University is seeking a qualified individual to fill a tenure-track assistant professor position in the area of Film Studies. The responsibilities of this position are to teach primarily Film Studies and direct the Film Studies minor.

We are looking for an individual who has innovative ideas to further develop a long-standing and already vibrant minor, offering new courses and interacting with students outside the confines of the classroom.

9-month contract; teaching load is a 3/3. Research and service expectations as noted in the T&P guidelines (

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Applicants should demonstrate expertise in Film Studies through academic research, service, and/or teaching.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Film Studies, English or Comparative Literature with an emphasis or concentration in Film Studies, or related field.

Ph.D. must be awarded by start date (August 15, 2018).

Preferred Qualifications
Salary $46,000
