Job Summary

Responsible to the Transfer Articulation Director in the School of Continuing Studies & Academic Outreach for advising, dual admission, recruitment, and other transfer students at area community colleges; working closely with the Office of Transfer Articulation and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions; a broad range of advising and student engagement functions including academic advisement, career planning, university transition and success, recruitment, and retention; and, performing other related duties as assigned. Extensive travel involved between regional institutions.

Located at ETSU’s satellite office at Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville, TN and frequent travel to other regional community colleges as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of ETSU dual admission and general admission policies.

Knowledge of ETSU transfer and articulation policies and procedures.

Knowledge of the Tennessee Transfer Pathways and program and course articulation to ETSU.

Knowledge of community college students.

Knowledge of ETSU undergraduate programs, curricula, and the general education core.

Knowledge of legal and confidentiality issues related to student advisement.

Knowledge of effective record keeping systems.

Knowledge of university support programs and services.

Knowledge of effective student recruitment methods.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to speak effectively to groups of people.

Ability to use computers and various software programs.

Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data.

Ability to work independently and prioritize work.

Ability to work well with others.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, and one year of experience in a college or university setting or one year advisor experience in other educational setting.
