Job Summary

The Department Chair accepts the responsibility of providing leadership and maintaining administration operations of the Department of Management and Marketing in addition to performing the traditional academic duties of teaching, research, and service. The Department Chair reports to the Dean of the College. The workload balance between administration and traditional academic duties is determined by the Dean of the College in conjunction with the Chair.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The Department Chair accepts responsibility for the following functions, as determined in conjunction with the Dean of the College:

Maintain a collegial, scholarly, department environment that supports and encourages faculty excellence in the traditional academic areas of teaching, research, and service.

Provides leadership for curricular development, planning, revision, evaluation, and implementation.

Engages in the intellectual development of students.

Engages in scholarly activity that is appropriate for the discipline.

Provides service to the academy, profession, and public.

Establishes partnership with constituencies including, but not limited to other colleges and universities, employers, not-for-profit and for-profit organizations, and the like.

Supervises faculty and staff in the department.

Required Qualifications

Tenured full-time faculty member within the ETSU Department of Management and Marketing at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications

Academic leadership experience.
