Job Summary

East Tennessee State University – College of Arts and Sciences – Department of Mathematics and Statistics – Assistant Professor – Tenure Track. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at East Tennessee State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 15, 2018. The department offers BS and MS degrees in mathematics, features faculty active in research, a commitment to curricular innovation at all levels, and has a tradition of interdisciplinary collaboration. In addition, department faculty play leadership roles in both the Institute for Computation and Research in Data Science (CaRDS) and the Center of Excellence in Mathematics and Science Education (CEMSE).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Responsibilities for this position include: teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; directing masters’ theses and undergraduate research projects/honors theses, and maintaining an active research program.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have obtained a Ph.D. in either Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or be ABD with an expected PhD by August 2018.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with research areas in computational science, high performance computing, or computational statistics are especially encouraged to apply. Interest in interdisciplinary collaborations, data science, or global optimization is a plus.
