Job Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Outdoor Adventure, the Coordinator of Outdoor Adventure assist in the daily operations of a comprehensive outdoor adventure program. The coordinator will organize, implement, lead and evaulate selected outdoor activities (trips, clinic, workshops) and the oversee the day to day operations of the Indoor Climbing Wall and Basler Team Building & Aerial Adventure Course.

Responsible for the day to day operations of Challenge Course and Climbing Wall

Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating student employees for challenge course and climbing wall within departmental and University guidelines

Manages outdoor equipment, including inventory, through input and management of recreation management software used by department

Assist with implementation of comprehensive risk management plan for climbing wall and challenge course; including insuring all inspections and certifications for operation are current

Implements marketing, branding, and promotion including daily management of social media and webpage

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Design and Implementation of Challenge Course Faciltation and Risk Management

Outdoor Recreation programming including equipment management

Familiarity with Campus Recreation setting
Knowledge of Student Development Theory in a campus recreation setting

Ability to market programs on a college campus.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation management, sports management or related field; Outdoor Leadership portfolio including a minimum of 200 hours of documented challenge course facilitation, as well as documented trip leadership; One (1) year experience in Challenge Course or Outdoor Adventure with student/graduate assistant and professional experience acceptable; Wilderness First Aid or ability to obtain within first 90 days; Driver’s License with safe driving record that meets University policy for driving University vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in education, recreation management, sports management or related field preferred; Wilderness First Responder preferred.

Salary $29,565 - $35,120
